NEW SCOTLAND YARD

DO you know what Scotland Yard is? Scotland Yard is in fact the Metropolitan Police of London, United Kingdom. Its founder was Sir Robert Peel, in 1829. Its name is due to the location of the original headquarters. In this street was the public entrance to the police station. Over time, the street and the Met (short for Metropolitan Police) became one.

Scotland Yard became very famous in the past as a symbol of detectives. Inspector Lestrade, famous for being a character of the Sherlock Holmes series, worked at this police station.
